Evaluation

Research shows that from pregnancy through early childhood, all of the environments in which children live and learn, and the quality of their relationships with adults and caregivers have a significant impact on their cognitive, emotional and social development.  Learning starts in infancy, long before formal education begins, and continues throughout life.

Recent studies of early childhood interventions have shown that high quality programmes have lasting effects on learning and motivation.

The Geary Institute, UCD was appointed by Preparing for Life to carry out the ongoing evaluation of the programme.  The Evaluation Team from UCD, led by Dr. Orla Doyle, are using multiple approaches including a Random Control Trial, Annual School Readiness Surveys and Process Evaluation.
