Home Visiting for Parents

Parenting is both joyful and a little scary! Often, parents need a little support to help them nurture their child. When you sign up to Preparing for Life, you sign up to having a dedicated Home Visitor listen to you, support you and guide you. Your Home Visitor will work in partnership with you in a friendly, non-judgemental way, with an overall aim of improving your child's readiness to go to school at age 5.

Why Join?

For parents:

Our home visiting programme helps parents to:

  • have more confidence in parenting
  • have more positive relationships with children
  • build their knowledge and skills
  • enjoy being a parent

For children:

Pregnancy and the first few years of a child’s life are a very important time when children grow and develop. The right supports for children today will help them in the future:

  • to grow up healthy and happy
  • to make friends
  • to develop good relationships
  • to do well in school

How Does it Work?

Parents who take part in our Home Visiting Programme receive:

  • A monthly visit from a Home Visitor, from pregnancy until the child starts school
  • Information on child development
  • Tips on how to encourage the child’s development
