Home Visiting - Information for Organisations

Background

PFL Home Visiting programme is designed to support expectant parents and their children up to school age. It aims to involve parents, caregivers and significant others and works to improve family lives by supporting parents / caregivers to use proven approaches to help their family achieve their full potential. The programme specifically sets out to improve levels of school readiness and enhance child development.

PFL  was originally developed through a bottom-up, community led process with the support of the Department of Children and Atlantic Philanthropies.  PFL was first implemented by Northside Partnership in Darndale, Priorswood and Kilmore in North Dublin.  The programme is now funded by Tusla / Child and Family Agency Area Based Childhood Programme which supports area based, early intervention and prevention initiatives in 12 disadvantaged communities in Ireland.
